DEARY, ID — September 2026 — The City of Deary is proud to announce that the Deary Downtown Revitalization Plan was selected as the winner of the 2026 Gem Award by the American Planning Association (APA) Idaho Chapter.
The Gem Award is the highest honor in the APA Idaho Awards Program, serving as the "best in show" recognition for the entire state. The award celebrates planning efforts that exemplify outstanding innovation, leadership, and community impact.
"Your outstanding contribution to planning in Idaho exemplifies the innovation, leadership, and community impact that we strive to honor each year," the APA Idaho Chapter Awards Committee noted in their announcement, calling the plan a highly deserving choice for this year's top recognition.
The Deary Downtown Revitalization Plan serves as a strategic blueprint to transform the city's downtown core into a vibrant, economically resilient, and community-focused space while preserving its unique rural charm. By securing the state's top planning award, the project highlights Deary's commitment to forward-thinking leadership and sustainable community development.
City leaders extend their deepest gratitude to Clearwater Economic Development and HMH, the community members, stakeholders, and planners whose collaborative vision and dedication made this achievement possible.
